Does Truth Exist?

I would first ask, “Are there realities to being human that exist outside of scientific measures” (repeatable, quantifiable)? The modern scientific mind demands there be an objective, measurable foundation to an idea leading to further discovery, whereas  philosophy or theology (metaphysics), they believe, tends to be only supposition on top of supposition.

In spite of this:

1. The very nature of post modernism is that it need not argue its own position simply because it stands for nothing. Whatever works for you is fine, so long as it doesn’t effect me. Why do scientific minds accept this philosophy? It sounds more like disillusionment and political correctness than science or enlightenment.

2. Or what of academia’s love affair with deconstructionism: while significant in its insightful process of understanding the nature of an ideological construct, it is ultimately nihilistic, without meaning, even arrogant, in that it refuses to acknowledge a world beyond its own observations.

3. Even science itself plays God in presuming to know there is no God or spirituality beyond life or death; have they been to the ends of the Universe, have they been to the afterlife in a lab?

There are far too many aspects of humanity that cannot be quantified: such as your first kiss, holding your own baby, petting a puppy, a sunset, or hearing a moving piece of music. Life is more than > / <. Life is also Spirit, love, sensual, tangible, community based, and even destiny based in that it has greater unknowns. To limit life to the bondage of simply intellectual and causal is really more about disappointment and control needs, or even just a purely hedonistic avoidance of accountability, and is ultimately, emotionally dishonest.

The existence of Truth can be established simply by how it affects its environment. For example, regardless of an individuals  unwillingness to acknowledge gravity, it will still function if they step off a cliff. The same principles apply to human relationships. When we violate love, there are causal relationships, meaning, you either mess it up or make it better. You cannot abuse your children and have them love you. Conversely, when children feel better, they behave better. Love is a very real thing despite its subjectivity, as is its absence (reference Hitler’s actions if you believe that there is no right or wrong).

Spirituality is also a very real experience for billions of individuals on our planet, but because it cannot be fully measured in a lab, it is condemned as uncivilized. Yet, civilized countries that violate the laws of Spirituality, end up with droves of addicts, broken families, and gnawing emptiness and lack of purpose. So the, “all-knowing,” secular humanism gives them pills, rather than admit they might be wrong. Science has yet to even grasp what consciousness is, but it has the audacity to denounce the heights of human consciousness, as fiction.

So then, to establish Truth, we cannot simply apply intellectual principles of science alone to dismiss it or accept it, but it must be holistic, in that it must be lived to be known. There is more to life than just the mind. Certainly Truth can be discussed, understood, debated, or even dismissed, but when a metaphysical principle remains the same, even when it is ignored, then I would call that a Truth.

Truth is all around us. It is lived. Truth? I occupy where I sit and no human, ever, has occupied this space at this time. The space I occupy, at this time, has never been occupied by any other, great or small, ever. I exist, in body at this time, in this space, as the only human ever to occupy this space in the entire known Universe. There are truths that cannot help but be lived every day. Some Truths are debated, however it is necessarily true that they are debated; it is unavoidable.

Like a philosopher I move out from here.

The very reality that we would all consider kindness, for example, imperative to healthy relationships, is evidence of higher truths, or laws, that apply to human relationships, in the same way as natural laws apply to the earth itself.

Working on this deep conceptualization of my ability to know what is real. So I fall back to core understanding: is it kind. Is it necessary. Does it improve the life of other’s. then maybe its worth exploration
