“Acceptance does not mean I am approving of injustices that happened; It just means that I will make myself crazy and will destroy my own happiness and faith if I don’t let go of things I cannot control. Forgiveness does not condone the actions of others, rather, it frees me to live again.”

It took me 10 years to learn that insight. I worked in hospice and realized that people were able to move on from grief, not because of healing, but because there was no way to change the outcome; therefore it was out of necessity, and not out of being “good” with what happened, that forced people to either move forward, or burn out into nothingness.
